The team field what is probably the most technologically advanced car ever, the FW14b. Featuring a semi-automatic gearbox, fly-by-wire and active suspension Williams and Nigel Mansell walk to the two championships.

Mansell wins the first five races of the season, setting a new record. But the sequence is broken in the sixth, Monaco, as Mansell is forced to make a late pit stop allowing Ayrton Senna into the lead.

One to watch. Future Williams driver and world champion, Jacques Villeneuve, scores his maiden F3 win.

After yet another win at Silverstone Mansell is mobbed by the crowds on the slowing down lap.

At only round 11, Hungary, Mansell secures to championship he has work hard for.

Two races later Mansell announces his retirement after he decides he does not want to partner the already signed Prost for the 1993 season.
