Austria Test 2015 – Day One

Driver: Susie Wolff
Chassis / Engine: FW37-01 / PU106B Hybrid
Location: RedBull Ring, Austria, 4.326km
Objectives: Aero and Chassis work
Weather: Raining, Showers in the afternoon
Air & track temps: 15 – 17ºC / 17 – 25ºC

Rod Nelson, Chief Test & Support Engineer: We had a pretty good day. The main focus early on was to test aero development items which have given us plenty of data to look at and will no doubt help us as the season goes on. Unfortunately we lost all of the morning session due to the weather. Susie was then unlucky with the weather in the afternoon. We had just finished the aero work when, on new tyres, it started to rain again. She did a great job throughout the day and so it is a shame that she didn’t get the chance to show her pace.

Susie Wolff: It wasn’t the perfect day as running was curtailed by the weather. During nearly all of my dry running I was focusing on aero work, which is important for the team, but isn’t the best preparation for my outing at Silverstone. It was still good be in the car and I will take the positives from the day. I now look to Silverstone which will be an important day and one I am really looking forward to.
